Hi!  I hope you all had a wonderful summer vacation, if you took one.  Many associations did not have activities during June and July and are now entering the 2nd part of their activities year.  InfraGard elected its new Board of Directors in June 2010 (see the fotos below in their section).  They are preparing their seminar for September 28.  ISSA is preparing for their seminar on November 18, and ISACA will have their seminar on December 3.
There are many activities scheduled by the many professional organizations.  Take your pick, attend the activities, and accumulate your CPE credits!
This month I have included 2 new sections, “Busco Empleo…” and “Oportunidades de Empleo…”  You or a colleague might be interested.

Read the May 2010 issue of "Tone-at-the-Top",  here, a monthly periodical, issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors for Senior Management, Board of Directors and Audit Committees. It provides nuggets of information concerning risk, internal control, governance, ethics, and the changing role of internal auditing. An important part of this newsletter is the identification of professional associations that provide training and seminars to information technology, governance, security, and other professionals in Puerto Rico. We will publish all activities and seminars of these associations so that each professional can select which seminar or training to attend for their own professional growth, as well as, the accumulation of Continuing Professional Credits for their certification requirements.

ISSA Puerto Rico is the local chapter of the Information Systems Security Association® (ISSA). ISSA is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for security professionals. It offers the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.   More information.

PRiMEX is a private non-profit organization, organized in 1986 through the initiative of Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) and the Manufacturing Extension Partnersip (MEP), a program under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). As a part of a national network, PRiMEX supports the needs of all Puerto Rico's small and medium enterprises (SME's) by providing services to improve their business processes.    More information.

InfraGard is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) program that began in the Cleveland Field Office in 1996. It was a local effort to gain support from the information technology industry and academia for the FBI’s investigative efforts in the cyber arena. The Puerto Rico chapter has been active for 1 year. ISOCPR is the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Internet Society. It serves professionals interested in the use, evolution and open development of the Internet for the benefit of all people in Puerto Rico and throughout the World. Created in the United States in 1992, the Internet Society is a non-profit entity dedicated to safeguarding the best interests of the Internet as well as stimulate its use throughout the globe.   More information.

ISACA Puerto Rico is the local chapter of ISACA an internacional association that serves IT Governance professionals. The local chapter was established in 1984 and currently has approximately 270 members. They offer the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications.  More information.

PMIPR is the Puerto Rico chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). It was founded in 1998 and currently has over 300 members. It serves professionals that work or are interested in Project Management.   More information.

The “Colegio de CPA de Puerto Rico” was established by law in 1973. It serves all persons practicing public accounting are obligated to be members of the “Colegio”. It provides training and services to promote professional excellence.   More information.
